A score's role tends to fall into one of two broad categories - tonally driven or character driven. In Neighbors, the score was very much connected to the characters, with distinct themes that recur several times each - rare for a short.

I felt particularly connected to the actors while composing this - for example, in "Maggie Plays Doctor," there's a moment where Kelly Garner starts humming to herself - and without realizing it, the score I had composed matched up.
